Warranty Policy

Issued by: Vindy Trading (Pvt) Ltd.Brand: Alfa Electric BikesPolicy Version: 26.01.0Effective Date: From 1st January 2026Previous Version: Not Applicable

1. Introduction

Vindy Trading (Pvt) Ltd., trading under the brand name Alfa Electric Bikes(“Alfa”, “we”, “us” or “our”), provides warranty coverage for ALFA branded electric mopeds, scooters, motorcycles, three-wheeled motorcycles or tricycles sold through Vindy Trading (Pvt) Ltd. or ALFA authorised dealers and outlets in Sri Lanka.

This Warranty Policy sets out the warranty coverage, duration, conditions, exclusions and procedures applicable to Alfa vehicles and their covered components.

The warranty is provided subject to the terms and conditions contained in this Warranty Policy.

This Warranty Policy is published online to ensure that customers have access to the most current version of Alfa’s warranty terms.

2. Warranty Period

Warranty coverage is provided according to the component-specific periods and mileage limits stated in the applicable warranty table.

Where a warranty period is expressed as:

“X Years or Y Kilometres, whichever comes first”

the warranty shall expire upon the earlier occurrence of either:

  • the stated number of years from the date of purchase/invoice; or
  • the stated mileage being reached on the vehicle's odometer.

Once either limit has been reached, the warranty for that component will expire, regardless of whether the other limit has been reached.

The warranty period begins from the date stated on the original sales invoice or other official proof of purchase issued by Vindy Trading (Pvt) Ltd. or a ALFA authorised dealer.

The above tables specifies the maximum warranty period applicable to each component. Warranty coverage remains subject to the conditions, exclusions and limitations contained in this Warranty Policy.

4. Warranty Conditions

Warranty coverage applies only where the failure or damage is determined by Vindy Trading (Pvt) Ltd. or an ALFA authorised service centre to fall within the applicable warranty condition specified for the relevant component.

4.1 Manufacturing Defects

Where the warranty condition states “Manufacturing defect”, warranty coverage applies to defects attributable to the manufacture, assembly or materials of the covered component.

The warranty does not cover damage or failure resulting from misuse, accidents, modifications, improper maintenance, external damage, water or environmental exposure beyond the vehicle’s intended operating conditions, or other causes not attributable to a manufacturing defect.

4.2 Bike Components

For the purposes of the warranty table or any other instance the warranty conditions are mentioned, “Bike” coverage is limited exclusively to:

  • Frame
  • Front Fork
  • Rear Fork
  • Handlebar
  • Main Stand Support
  • Side Stand Support
  • Plastic Body
  • Fenders
  • Seat
  • Bucket
  • Wheel
  • Rim

For these components, warranty coverage is limited to:

  • Breakage due to manufacturing defect
  • Warping due to manufacturing defect
  • Paint peeling due to manufacturing defect
  • Paint bubbling due to manufacturing defect

Normal wear and tear, scratches, dents, abrasions, fading, cosmetic damage caused by use, accidents or external impact are not covered unless specifically determined to constitute a covered defect under this Warranty Policy.

5. General Warranty Requirements

To obtain warranty service, the customer may be required to provide:

  • The original sales invoice or other valid proof of purchase;
  • The vehicle registration details, where applicable;
  • The vehicle chassis/frame number;
  • The vehicle battery number or identification details, where applicable;
  • Battery diagnosis or voltage reading video;
  • The vehicle odometer reading; and
  • Any other information reasonably required by Alfa to verify the warranty claim.

Alfa reserves the right to inspect the vehicle and/or component before determining whether a warranty claim is covered.

Warranty repairs or replacements must be carried out by Vindy Trading (Pvt) Ltd. or an ALFA authorised service centre unless prior written approval has been obtained from Alfa.

6. Warranty Claim Procedure

Customers wishing to make a warranty claim should contact the Alfa dealer or authorised service centre from which the vehicle was purchased, or another Alfa-authorised service location as directed by Vindy Trading (Pvt) Ltd.

The vehicle or affected component may be required to be presented for inspection and testing.

Vindy Trading (Pvt) Ltd. will determine whether the reported issue falls within the applicable warranty coverage.

Where a claim is approved, Vindy Trading (Pvt) Ltd. may, at its discretion and subject to applicable law:

  • repair the affected component;
  • replace the affected component with a new component;
  • replace the affected component with an equivalent component; or
  • take another reasonable corrective action.

The warranty does not necessarily entitle the customer to replacement of the entire vehicle where only an individual component is determined to be defective.

7. Replacement Components

Where a component is replaced under warranty, the replacement component will be provided as part of the warranty remedy.

Unless otherwise required by applicable law, replacement of a component does not automatically restart or extend the original warranty period for the entire vehicle.

The warranty applicable to a replacement component shall be determined in accordance with Vindy Trading (Pvt) Ltd. warranty procedures and applicable law.

8. Exclusions from Warranty

Unless specifically stated otherwise in this Warranty Policy, warranty coverage does not apply to failures, damage or deterioration caused by:

  • Accidents or collisions;
  • Abuse, misuse or negligent use;
  • Improper operation of the vehicle;
  • Overloading or use beyond the vehicle's intended purpose;
  • Unauthorised modification or alteration of the vehicle or its components;
  • Use of non-approved or incompatible components, accessories, chargers or electrical equipment;
  • Improper electrical connections or electrical system modifications;
  • Repairs carried out by unauthorised persons or service providers;
  • Failure to follow the vehicle's operating, charging or maintenance instructions;
  • Physical damage caused by external impact;
  • Normal wear and tear;
  • Cosmetic deterioration resulting from ordinary use;
  • Scratches, dents, abrasions or similar external damage;
  • Damage resulting from fire, flooding, lightning, natural disasters or other external events;
  • Damage resulting from use in conditions for which the vehicle was not designed;
  • Tampering with or alteration of the odometer or vehicle identification information; or
  • Any other failure or damage determined by Alfa to have resulted from causes other than a covered manufacturing defect or specifically covered condition.

9. Battery-Specific Conditions

Battery warranty coverage applies to the battery chemistry and capacity categories specified in the applicable warranty table.

Battery warranty claims may be subject to diagnostic testing by Vindy Trading (Pvt) Ltd. or an ALFA authorised service centre.

The presence of reduced battery capacity, reduced range or a change in battery performance does not by itself establish a manufacturing defect. Vindy Trading (Pvt) Ltd. may conduct appropriate testing to determine whether the battery qualifies for warranty replacement or repair.

Battery damage resulting from improper charging, physical damage, unauthorised modification, incorrect charging equipment, water or liquid damage, tampering, misuse or other external causes may not be covered under this Warranty Policy.

Specific battery warranty conditions may vary by battery chemistry, capacity and vehicle model and will be stated in the applicable warranty table.

10. Maintenance and Servicing

Customers are responsible for following the recommended operating, charging and maintenance procedures provided with the vehicle.

Failure to perform required maintenance or servicing may affect the ability to establish whether a warranty claim is attributable to a manufacturing defect.

Where servicing records are reasonably required to assess a warranty claim, Alfa may request such records or other reasonable evidence of maintenance.

11. Odometer and Mileage

Warranty mileage limits are determined using the vehicle’s odometer or other approved mileage-recording system.

Where Vindy Trading (Pvt) Ltd. reasonably determines that the odometer has been tampered with, altered, disconnected or otherwise rendered unreliable, Vindy Trading (Pvt) Ltd. may decline a warranty claim where the actual mileage of the vehicle cannot reasonably be established.

12. Transfer of Ownership

Unless otherwise specified for a particular model or warranty programme, warranty coverage is associated with the vehicle and may be transferable to a subsequent owner, subject to Alfa’s verification of the vehicle, original purchase information and applicable warranty conditions.

The warranty period does not restart upon transfer of ownership.

13. Existing Customers and Previously Sold Vehicles

This section is intended to clarify how amendments to Vindy Trading (Pvt) Ltd.’s Warranty Policy interact with vehicles sold under previous versions of this Policy.

The warranty terms applicable to a vehicle are generally determined by the warranty terms in effect and provided to the customer at the time of purchase.

A subsequent version of this Warranty Policy does not, by itself, reduce, remove or otherwise adversely modify warranty rights already provided to a customer at the time of purchase, except to the extent permitted by applicable law and any valid contractual provision.

However, Vindy Trading (Pvt) Ltd. may from time to time increase, extend or otherwise enhance warranty benefits for vehicles that were purchased before the effective date of a new Warranty Policy.

Where Vindy Trading (Pvt) Ltd. expressly states that a new or revised warranty provision applies to previously sold vehicles, that enhanced provision shall apply to the eligible vehicles specified by Vindy Trading (Pvt) Ltd.

Accordingly, a subsequent Warranty Policy may provide additional or more favourable warranty coverage to existing customers without requiring the customer to receive a replacement physical copy of the vehicle manual.

Where a warranty enhancement is made applicable to previously sold vehicles, Vindy Trading (Pvt) Ltd. may identify the eligible vehicles by model, battery type, purchase date, chassis number, battery number or other identifying information.

14. Warranty Policy Versions and Amendments

Vindy Trading (Pvt) Ltd. may update this Warranty Policy from time to time as its products, warranty programmes, service procedures and business practices develop.

Each published version of this Warranty Policy will identify:

  • The policy version number;
  • The effective date; and
  • Where appropriate, the previous policy version.

The current version of the Warranty Policy will be published on the official Alfa Electric Bikes website.

Unless Vindy Trading (Pvt) Ltd. expressly states otherwise, a new version of the Warranty Policy applies to vehicles sold on or after its effective date.

Where a subsequent version contains an extension or enhancement of warranty benefits for previously sold vehicles, Vindy Trading (Pvt) Ltd. will expressly identify the applicable existing vehicles or customers and the enhanced benefit will apply according to the terms of that announcement.

15. Website Publication

The publication of this Warranty Policy on the official Alfa Electric Bikes website is intended to provide customers with convenient access to the current Warranty Policy and its applicable versions.

Customers are encouraged to refer to the Alfa website for the current Warranty Policy, warranty announcements and warranty-related updates.

Vindy Trading (Pvt) Ltd. may maintain historical versions of its Warranty Policy for reference and warranty administration purposes.

16. Limitation of Warranty

This Warranty Policy describes the warranty coverage voluntarily provided by Vindy Trading (Pvt) Ltd. in addition to any rights and remedies that customers may have under applicable Sri Lankan law.

Nothing in this Warranty Policy is intended to exclude, restrict or limit any right, remedy, guarantee or protection that cannot lawfully be excluded, restricted or limited under applicable law.

Where any provision of this Warranty Policy is found to be invalid, unlawful or unenforceable, that provision shall be interpreted or modified to the minimum extent necessary to comply with applicable law, and the remaining provisions shall continue to apply to the extent permitted by law.

17. Governing Law

This Warranty Policy shall be interpreted in accordance with the laws applicable in Sri Lanka.

Any warranty claim shall first be referred to Vindy Trading (Pvt) Ltd. or an ALFA-authorised dealer or service centre for review and resolution.

Nothing in this Warranty Policy limits any rights a customer may have under applicable Sri Lankan consumer protection or other applicable legislation.
